Yangon Hotel, Friends and Sights

Faye and our tour guide in the entrance to the Kandawgyi palace Hotel

The lobby and lounge area - great for coffee and afternoon drinks

Kandawgyi Lake from our room

Hotel cafe has a dinosaur for a pet

We met and became friends with many interesting people at the hotel - this is Micki and Don whom we teamed up with for adventures in Yangon

Before heading out we had to dress in the appropriate local attire!! Thanks for the loan of my skirt, Don...

The floating palace and royal barge

Exploring some of the streets near the port

One of many stops for hot tea - the fuel of Myanmar

Port district neighborhood hasn't changed much in the last century

A story to be told...

China town corner

Getting a little crowded on the sidewalk

Yangon has many large and beautiful Pagodas. This is the Kaba Aye Pagoda.

This is the Sule Pagoda that dominates the center of the downtown area

But none of the other pagodas can compare with the Shwedagon Pagoda that is visible through the haze from anywhere in Yangon - it is worth a separate web branch

I keep losing my sarong - can't get the knot right. Luckly, there are lots of willing guys to help rescue me. It's kind of embarrasing - do real men wear underwear under this???
