Bagni di Lucca & Vistas

Page Two

Getting to Bagni di Lucca from Lucca takes you through some beautiful towns and interesting sights. One of these sights is this ancient Diablo Bridge across the Serchio River on the approach to the village of Fornoli. It dates back to around the year 1100.

Fornoli is famous for its chain bridge (ponte della catene) built over the Lima River around 1840.

The southern entrance to the bridge.

And a panorama up and down the Lima from the bridge. Neat to see, but our most popular spot in Fornoli was the great local wine store selling bulk quantities of local wine.

Ponte Serallio is the next village enroute to Bagni di Lucca. Here looking upstream on the Lima River.

Here we are in the center of Ponte Serallio, looking downstream on the Lima River.

Another look across the Lima.

And at last Bagni di Lucca. Del Sonno Restaurant - one of our favorite spots.

Another great lunch at Del Sonno with Faye. Watching the world go by over a good meal and wine.
