Bassano di Grappa

This is a surprisingly large city located about 20 minutes northeast of Vicenza. Located on the Brenta River, and most famous for its wooden bridge built acoss the river, and still very much in use. It was designed and built in 1569 by an architect-engineer named Palladio. It is practical and beautiful.

The city has many piazzas like this. It is easy to get lost.

A bread shop.

The famous bridge. Looking west.

Looking east.

And upstream. Still going strong after about 550 years.
