Aloft Over Lago Di Garda (September 2009)

At the top of Baldy we have spectacular views in every direction. Coleman, my pilot is unloading the paraglider.

Everything laid out and ready for launch. Time for me to get strapped in for takeoff. The wind is from the east so we will take off in that direction (straight ahead in this photo).

And here we go!!! A left turn has us parallel to the mountain headed north. We will turn left again when we reach the gap ahead.

Through the gap. WOW!!!

After our left turn we are heading west and get our first look at the lake. A long way down.

We now are heading south down the lake. That small pennensula is the town of Malcesine.

And now we are right over the town. The start of the gondola lift up the mountain is in those two white buildings on the left. Castle is in the center.

Hey, there's the castle!!

Losing altitude, we turn back to the north. Our eventual landing pad is the green grassed area sticking out from the edge of the lake.

Now only a couple of hundred feet altitude, and on our downward leg for landing. The landing field is just below and behind us on the left.

On the ground again. Coleman loads the glider into his backpack. It was an amazing 30 minute ride. Best 100 Euros I've ever spent. We part with the plan to get together in May for an hour-long exploration of the mountains.

Another tandem flight landing.

Can you believe this, in Italy?? Fortunately, several eyepoppers ignored this warning...
